Floor & Light Plan for an Interview

While the living room set can be used for casual interviews, more formal interviews are usually done on the set for It's Academic.

Camera #1 is usually the host's "talking camera" and maintains an MS of MCU.

Camera #2 is often used to get a 3-shot of all three talents.

Camera #3 may be used for a 2-shot of the guests, but is usually more effective on an MS or MCU of the guest who is talking.

Lighting is basic 3-point lighting for each talent, with the two guests sharing a single back light. Set lights are in place to light the cyc, but are not drawn here to keep the plan simple. For some interviews the set looks better in semi-cameo with no set lights, as drawn here. Note that key and fill lights should be placed approx. 12 feet (3 grid bars) from the talent.

The snake is usually placed on the floor to the left of the host's chair. Three corded lavalieres are used for audio, with the cables being hidden between the riser and the back panels.

This set should be limited to two guests, as three make it look crowded.
